David
Allen Moss has
been on the forefront of rich media and content development for
both the private and public sector for
over a decade. Making a career of the leading edge, from early adoption
of web technologies, to shaping the emergent field of narrowcasting
and digital signage — Moss continues to identify opportunities
to develop breakthrough interactive, produce rich-media applications,
and champion new design categories.
Currently,
David serves as Director of FUTURE: Center for Design and Technology
Transfer at the Cleveland Institute of Art. Devoted
to breakthrough research and collaboration that drives the design
agenda of the 21st century, FUTURE houses a state of the art conference
facility, virtual reality lab, MFA studios, business incubator
and gallery space. Moss overseas all facets of the initiative,
including
production projects, professional partnerships, research grants
and international collaborations between outside organizations,
students and faculty.
In 2000, Moss became Art Director for EDR/Beachwood
Studios, heading the design team of the companies growing interactive
division.
Later named Creative Director for the reorganized EDR Media, LLC,
he developed
award-winning multimedia, digital media networks, and video applications
for Wynn Las Vegas, Best Buy, Summit Racing, Gateway, Costco and
National City, to name a few. Moss also has created interactive
kiosks for organizations such as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
and Museum, Norton Museum of Art, and General Electric.
Moss
returned to native Northeast Ohio in 1999, where American Greetings
soon
recruited him for a lead Web Designer role. While
with AG.com,
he helped carve out the number one web presence for the social
expressions industry, managing the production of all American
Greetings corporate
sites. Meanwhile, he continued to solidify his independent design
practice, creating new media and packaging solutions distributed
worldwide in retailers like Wal-Mart, Kroger, Lowes, Target,
and Home Depot. Moss continues to produce brand identity packages
and digital installations for retailers, corporations, and new
ventures.
In
1995 David joined Indiana Career and Postsecondary Advancement
Center, a premier career and education initiative.
As Multimedia/Graphics
Director he co-authored and designed a series of award-winning
future planners, information series publications, and newsletters.
Each
served ICPAC’s core mission to empower the people of Indiana
and increase postsecondary participation statewide. In the years
that followed, Indiana would move from the lower 3rd to the
top 3rd in postsecondary involvement. Later
appointed Assistant Director of Web Services for the Indiana
Career Information System, Moss was instrumental in the creation
of the world’s first web-based career information clearinghouse.
At the time, making use of state of the art technology — HTML,
SGML, Cold Fusion, RealMedia and PDF — Moss architected
the production of interactive interest inventories, streaming
career
videos, and an advanced web publishing architecture.
